hello everyone welcome to modern history
lecture series today in this video we
will discuss about rise of Rajput state
this is the fourth part of a topic rise
of autonomous state in our last videos
we have discussed about bengal state
hyderabad state offered state that how
these states they rose to the status of
autonomous state during the declining
phase of Mughal Empire
similarly in 18th century Rajput state
also took advantage of the growing
weakness of Mughal power they freed
themselves from the central control and
also increase their own influence and
they achieve their glory over the rest
of the empire now what was the location
of these Rajput state if you see in map
land of Rajput it wasn't historical
region and in present day we see if we
see the India man
it included Rajasthan you can see in
this map it included Rajasthan this area
Rajasthan and parts of Gujarat as well
as parts of Madhya Pradesh and Pakistan
so the overall the spread was among
these state of present time like
Rajasthan Madhya Pradesh Gujarat and
parts of Pakistan and the two important
kingdoms of Rajput Ana's Rajput Ana's
means land of Rajput s-- where Rajput
she used to live the two important
Kingdom were Marv R and Amir if we see

Rajasthan in the southwest of Rajasthan

northwest part of India

against Mughals in the mind of Rajput

Singh who was father of Ajit Singh when

this led Rajput against Mughals and

to be against the Mughal Empire there
were strong supporters they were loyal
towards Mughal earlier and this was one
of the factor of decline of Mughal
Empire after this when in 1707 Aurangzeb

situation he took advantage of

now what Bahadur Shah tried to did he
tried to had greater control over the

replaced Jai Singh who was the ruler of

Singh to submit to Mughal authority

that they both fought in 1708 in which
Arjun Singh had to submit to Mughal

resistance
because of which he had to recognize his
mistake and restored States to Raja Jai
Singh and Arjun Singh but their demand
of hyman subs and governship of
important provinces of Malwa and Gujarat
that was not accepted so that was this

after the fight in 1708 treaty was
concluded in which I judge Singh was
recognized as the ruler of marble and it
was all because of the strong resistance
which Bahadur Shah face because he was
trying to over control these states
after the death of Badou Shah the next
successor of Mughal Empire was jahandar
shah and and we discussed in a last
slide about the fight between Mughals
and adjusting in 1700 a and we saw that
Ajit Singh had to submit to the Mughal
authority though he was recognised as
the ruler of marvel but a judge saying
he was not satisfied he formed an anti
Mughal alliance with Raja of Jaipur
chasing and Durga D'ass rathole

demanded by these Rajput s-- Jai Singh

court they had their influence in the

but after some time they were both ruler

tried Rajput to be with them so they

Gujarat but soon Arjun Singh he became
victim of internal disturbances and he

themselves there were so many internal
politics there were so many internal
disturbances among the states because of

powerful states they were not able to
establish a very strong and a very huge

observatories where special arrangement
were made to study astronomy and these
five as I told you they were at Delhi
Jaipur with Gen Varanasi and Mathura if
you see in the city of Jaipur the
buildings of city of geppu was based
richly on scientific principles he built
ins he built roads and got several wells
dug for the public convenience and he
was also a social reformer he enforced a
law to make peace
reduce the expenditure on the marriages
of their daughter daughter's wedding so
he enforced this law to reduce
expenditure on daughter's wedding as
this was one of the reason of female
infanticide so Jai Singh he was such a
remarkable ruler he ruled for $16.99
till 1743 and he reformed a lot in
administration and he did a lot of work
in astronomy and and he founded the city
of Jaipur on the basis of scientific
method
so although Rajput they had strong
rulers and they controlled Rajputana in
the area around Delhi in 18th century
but they could not consolidate the
overall position and the main reason was
their internal discord their internal
rivalry their civil wars and all these
internal quarrels they made Rajput
politically very unstable and also made
them an easy prey to the Murata attacks
and the same type of conspiracy as there
was in Mughal rule as there was in the
Mughal Court which led to their decline
it was existent in the Rajputana States
as well
corruption conspiracies treachery these
things it led to the decline of Rajput
