The 'Celsius' scale is a scale which is defined such that freezing point of water is '0′ and boiling point is '100′.

There have been many other relative scales. Kelvin on the other hand is an absolute thermodynamic scale, which uses its null point as the temperature at which all thermal motion ceases to exist. This point can be found by extending the 'volume temperature' curve of gases.

Futher the separation between two individual integer values of kelvin temperature is ‘assumed’ to be equal to that of celsius.

i.e. One kelvin difference is equal to one degree Celsius difference.

This brings the popular value of about '273′.

Kelvin scale is used and is important since it's a thermodynamic scale rather than a relatively assumed scale.

For the sake of problem solving the absence of negative values on the scale facilitates the calculations.
