The poet, Robert Frost, uses poetically uncommon birds and trees in his poem "Dust of Snow" to create a deeper meaning and reflect on the transformative power of nature. Let's explore this in detail.

Uncommon Birds and Trees
- In the poem, Frost mentions a crow and a hemlock tree. These are not common birds or trees that most people encounter in their daily lives.
- The crow is often associated with darkness, death, and bad omens. The hemlock tree is also associated with death, as it was used in ancient times as a poison.
- By using these uncommon symbols, Frost creates a sense of foreboding and darkness, which sets the stage for the transformative power of nature to come.

Transformative Power of Nature
- The poem is only six lines long, but it packs a powerful message about the transformative power of nature.
- The speaker is feeling down and defeated, but a chance encounter with a crow and some snow falling from a hemlock tree changes his mood.
- The dust of snow that falls on the speaker is a metaphor for the transformative power of nature. It is a small, seemingly insignificant event, but it has the power to change the speaker's entire outlook on life.
- By using the crow and hemlock tree as symbols of darkness and death, Frost emphasizes the power of nature to break through even the darkest of moods and bring about a sense of renewal and hope.

In conclusion, the use of poetically uncommon birds and trees in "Dust of Snow" reflects the transformative power of nature. By using these symbols, Frost creates a sense of darkness and foreboding, which sets the stage for the transformative event of the dust of snow falling on the speaker. This event changes the speaker's mood and reminds us of the power of nature to bring about renewal and hope.
