Elimination of Solid Waste:
Solid waste in humans is mainly composed of undigested food, dead cells, and metabolic waste products. The process of eliminating solid waste is known as defecation and involves the following steps:

1. Digestion: Food is broken down in the digestive system, and nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream. The undigested waste forms feces.

2. Storage: Feces are stored in the rectum until elimination. The rectum acts as a temporary storage site.

3. Elimination: When the rectum becomes full, the muscular walls of the rectum contract, and the feces are expelled through the anus. This process is controlled by the defecation reflex, which involves coordination between the muscles of the rectum and the anal sphincters.

Elimination of Gaseous Waste:
Gaseous waste in humans is primarily composed of carbon dioxide (CO2) and small amounts of other gases, such as nitrogen (N2) and methane (CH4). The process of eliminating gaseous waste is known as respiration and involves the following steps:

1. Breathing: Inhalation brings fresh air into the lungs, where oxygen is extracted and transported to cells for energy production through respiration. During this process, carbon dioxide is produced as a waste product.

2. Diffusion: Carbon dioxide diffuses from the cells into the bloodstream, where it is transported to the lungs.

3. Exhalation: The lungs eliminate carbon dioxide from the body through exhalation. When we exhale, the diaphragm and intercostal muscles relax, causing the lungs to contract and air to be pushed out. This process removes gaseous waste from the body.
