Given that the ratio of wine and water after the third replacement is 343:169.

Therefore, (Amount of wine) / (Amount of water) = 343/169

Substituting the above expressions in this equation, we get:

[(343/512) * x] / [(169/512) * x] = 343/169

Simplifying the above equation, we get:

x = 120 liters

Therefore, the initial amount of wine in the container was 120 liters.
