Gas Cracker Plant:
A gas cracker plant is a facility that processes natural gas or other hydrocarbons to produce ethylene, propylene, and other valuable chemicals. These chemicals serve as building blocks for various industries, including plastics, chemicals, and textiles. The establishment of a gas cracker plant can significantly contribute to the economic growth of an area.
Reasons why Nagathane is the correct answer:
1. Location: Nagathane is a village located in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. It is strategically situated near the Arabian Sea coast, making it an ideal location for a gas cracker plant. The proximity to the sea allows for easy transportation of raw materials and finished products, which is crucial for the plant's operations.
2. Infrastructure: Nagathane has well-developed infrastructure, including ports and transportation networks. This infrastructure facilitates the import of raw materials and export of finished products, ensuring smooth operations for the gas cracker plant.
3. Availability of Natural Gas: Natural gas is the primary feedstock for gas cracker plants. Nagathane is located in close proximity to the Mumbai High offshore oil fields, which are known to have significant natural gas reserves. This availability of natural gas makes Nagathane an ideal location for a gas cracker plant.
4. Economic Impact: The establishment of a gas cracker plant in Nagathane will bring significant economic benefits to the region. It will create job opportunities for the local population, attract investments, and stimulate ancillary industries. This will contribute to the overall development and prosperity of the area.
In conclusion, Nagathane is the correct answer because of its strategic location, well-developed infrastructure, availability of natural gas, and the positive economic impact it will have on the region.
