electric current is scalar or vector quantity
Verified Answer
electric current is scalar or vector quantity
Electric current should be considered a vector as it has both magnitude and direction. But in addition, vectors obey the law of parallelogram of vectors, which the electric current does not obey. For this reason, current is a scalar quantity and not a vector. Also, as I = q/t, both charge and time are scalars, therefore electric current is a scalar quantity.

electric current is scalar or vector quantity
Electric current has both magnitude and direction so ideally it should be a vector. But it's a scalar just because it does not follow vector addition.

electric current is scalar or vector quantity
It is a scalar quantity.

It has both direction and magnitude but it does not follow triangle law of addition in vectors.

Current added in any direction will always cause increase in current.

Hope it helps.
