Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to express my feeling about women safety. When we turn the pages of a newspaper, we come across many headlines reporting cases of sexual assault, molestation, sexual harassment, rapes, trafficking, ill treatment of women in houses, violence against women in remote areas etc.The crime comes amid heightened concerns about sexual violence in India. it seems that criminals are no longer afraid of the law. It is also evident that cities in India can no longer claim to be safe for the growing number of working women.. we must have remedial or curative measures such as fast track courts especially dedicated to deal only with these offences and crimes. These can be made responsible to clear the cases on day to day basis with fair trial as its core principle. The law should be strong enough so that no body could ever imagine of doing such things. It is time the government undertakes drastic measures to put an end to crime against women.
I would like to quote here that a country which do not respect women can not become developed country. so i would like to request our Indian people please provide equal respect and security to women.
Yours truly,
Shekar Malhothra

Letter to the Editor: Addressing Violence against Women
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my deep concern about the escalating issue of violence against women in our society. It is disheartening to witness the increasing number of cases where women are subjected to physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. As a responsible citizen, I feel it is our collective duty to address this grave issue and take steps towards creating a safer environment for women.
The Alarming Reality:
Violence against women has reached alarming proportions, posing a serious threat to their physical and mental well-being. Every day, numerous incidents of domestic violence, sexual assault, and harassment are reported, while many others go unreported due to fear, shame, or societal pressure. This pervasive problem is not confined to a specific demographic or region; it is a global issue that demands immediate attention.
Root Causes and Consequences:
The roots of violence against women lie in deep-seated gender inequalities, patriarchal norms, and societal attitudes that perpetuate discrimination. Such acts not only violate the fundamental human rights of women but also have severe consequences on their physical health, psychological well-being, and overall development. Furthermore, it perpetuates a cycle of violence, affecting future generations and hindering societal progress.
Education and Awareness:
To combat this issue effectively, we must prioritize education and awareness. Comprehensive sex education should be integrated into school curricula, emphasizing the importance of respect, consent, and gender equality. Public awareness campaigns, workshops, and seminars should be conducted to educate both men and women about the consequences of violence and the need for mutual respect and empathy. Additionally, media platforms should play a more responsible role by promoting positive portrayals of women and condemning violence.
Strengthening Legal Frameworks:
While education and awareness are crucial, we must also ensure that our legal systems are equipped to handle cases of violence against women. Stricter laws, swift justice, and sensitized law enforcement agencies are necessary to deter potential offenders and provide justice to the victims. Moreover, helplines and support services should be readily available to assist and empower survivors.
Community Engagement:
Addressing violence against women requires a comprehensive, multi-dimensional approach involving the whole community. It is essential to engage religious leaders, community organizations, NGOs, and individuals to collectively challenge the prevailing norms and beliefs that perpetuate violence. By fostering a supportive environment, we can empower women to speak up, provide them with the necessary resources, and eradicate the stigma associated with being a survivor.
A Call to Action:
In conclusion, it is high time that we join hands as a society to end violence against women. We must create a culture that respects and values women's rights, where women can live without fear. Only through a collective effort can we bring about lasting change and build a society where every woman can thrive. Let us stand united against violence and work towards a brighter, safer future for all.
Yours sincerely,
