Jallianwala Bagh Massacre is an important event in the history of India.
1. The incident took place on the 13thApril 1919 in Amritsar.
2. Many people had gathered in the ground as a protest against the Rowlatt Act which detained the nationalists for two years without any trial.
3. The crowd included thousands of men, women and children.
4. The British army under the leadership of General Dyer blocked the only entrance to the park.
5. He ordered fire on the gathered crowd without giving any warning.
6. Thousands of innocent people were killed by this cruel act.
7. The news of this firing spread across the streets.
8. People started attacking Government buildings, clashed with the police and went on strikes.
9. The British Government took extreme steps to suppress this.
10. They made the Indian nationalists crawl on the streets, and rub their nose on the ground.
11. They even bombed the villages.
Thus, the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre was an example of the inhuman act of the British Government and its officers.

*The British government arrested the two national leaders of India Dr Satya Pal and Dr Saifuddin Kitchlew for their involvement in the protests against the Rowlatt Act, which led to pervasive unrest among the people of Punjab.
*On April 13, 1919, on the occasion of Baisakhi, the people (men, women and children) of Punjab launched a peaceful protest against their arrest.
*The British military Commander General Dyer reached the park with soldiers and blocked the entrance of the park. Thereafter he ordered his soldiers to open fire. This firing lasted for ten minutes and killed thousands of people. The massacre ignited the anger of the Indians.
