Nearly 20-25 per cent of CO2 is transported by RBCs. It is caused by haemoglobin as carbamino haemoglobin. 70 per cent of CO2 is carried as bicarbonates.
About 97 per cent of O2 is transported by RBCs in the blood. The remaining 3 per cent of O2 is carried in dissolved state through the plasma.

About 97% of oxygen is transported by RBCs in the blood while the remaining three percent of oxygen is carried in a dissolved state through plasma. Nearly 20-25% of carbon dioxide is transported by RBCs whereas 70% is carried as bicarbonate. About 7% of CO2 is carried in dissolved state through plasma.

- RBCs carry about 20-25 per cent of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the form of carbaminohemoglobin.
- They also transport oxygen (O2) by binding it to hemoglobin molecules.
Percentage of Oxygen Transported
- RBCs transport the majority of oxygen in the body, with approximately 99.5 per cent of oxygen being bound to hemoglobin in RBCs.
- The remaining 0.5 per cent of oxygen is dissolved in the blood plasma.
