Let the capitals of A, B and C be 5x, 6x and 8x respectively.

Let the time for which A, B and C contributed their capitals be a, b and c respectively.

Profit distribution ratio is 5:3:12, which can be written as (5x*a):(6x*b):(8x*c) = 5:3:12

Simplifying, we get,

5a = 2b
c = 3a

We need to find the ratio of time for which they contributed their capitals, i.e., a:b:c

From the above equations, we can substitute b as (5a/2) and c as 3a to get,

a:b:c = a:(5a/2):3a

Simplifying, we get,

a:b:c = 2:1:3

Therefore, the ratio of time for which they contributed their capitals is 2:1:3.
