It is often argued that the traditional newspaper has little relevance in today’s world as people no longer prefer to consume the news in a linear fashion; they prefer to pick and choose which stories they want to read, a choice that they can exercise freely on the online news portals. Pre-Thinking Approach
We need to find a statement which can highlight a significant difference between TNs and ONPs and thereby provide support for the conclusion. For this, we’ll look at conditions where linkage 1 makes logical sense.
Linkage#1 – Option statement
  • Support 1: When people pick stories to read, they only choose the ones they like. In this case, they might read fewer topics than what they would otherwise go through if they were reading a TN.  If this were true, the conclusion that NC from TN enhances GA more will be justified.
  • Support 2: Stories on all topics aren’t equally visible on ONPs; there could be some topics which are buried deep on the website and readers might not come across them easily. Incorrect - Irrelevant
The argument is not concerned with comparing all digital media v/s traditional media. Secondly, the contents of books in either form are the same.

Incorrect - Opposite
This option talks of topic selection, whereas we need to provide support for a conclusion that deals with general awareness. Also, the conclusion clearly states that TNs are better than ONPs in a particular context. This choice, however, pitches TNs as comparable to ONPs.
