Given:
Time taken by Naren to complete one round = 12 s
Time taken by Suraj to complete one round = 9 s
Time taken by Praveen to complete one round = 15 s
To find:
Time taken by them to meet again at the starting point
Solution:
We know that the time taken by each person to complete one round is different. Let us assume that they all start at the same time from the starting point. After some time, they will meet at the starting point again. Let us find out the time taken by each person to complete one part of the round before they meet again at the starting point.
Let us take the LCM of the time taken by each person to complete one round. LCM of 12, 9 and 15 is 180.
Time taken by Naren to complete 1/15th of the round = 180/12 x 1/15 = 1 s
Time taken by Suraj to complete 1/20th of the round = 180/9 x 1/20 = 2 s
Time taken by Praveen to complete 1/12th of the round = 180/15 x 1/12 = 1.2 s
We can see that Suraj takes the maximum time to complete one part of the round, i.e., 2 s. This means that they will meet again at the starting point after Suraj completes one part of the round.
Therefore, the time taken by them to meet again at the starting point = 2 x 9 = 18 s
Hence, option (c) is the correct answer.

Time taken by Suraj to complete one round = 9 s
Time taken by Praveen to complete one round = 15 s

Time taken by them to meet again at the starting point
Solution:
We know that the time taken by each person to complete one round is different. Let us assume that they all start at the same time from the starting point. After some time, they will meet at the starting point again. Let us find out the time taken by each person to complete one part of the round before they meet again at the starting point.
Let us take the LCM of the time taken by each person to complete one round. LCM of 12, 9 and 15 is 180.
Time taken by Naren to complete 1/15th of the round = 180/12 x 1/15 = 1 s
Time taken by Suraj to complete 1/20th of the round = 180/9 x 1/20 = 2 s
Time taken by Praveen to complete 1/12th of the round = 180/15 x 1/12 = 1.2 s
We can see that Suraj takes the maximum time to complete one part of the round, i.e., 2 s. This means that they will meet again at the starting point after Suraj completes one part of the round.
Therefore, the time taken by them to meet again at the starting point = 2 x 9 = 18 s
Hence, option (c) is the correct answer.
