Naren received Rs.8000 as his share out of the total profit of Rs.1200...
Given, Naren received Rs.8000 as his share out of the total profit of Rs.12000 which he and Praba earned at the end of one year.

Let the amount invested by Praba be x for the whole year.

Naren invested Rs.20,000 for 6 months, which is half a year. So, his investment is equivalent to (20000*6)/12 = Rs.10,000 for one year.

Total investment for one year = Naren's investment + Praba's investment = Rs.10,000 + x

Profit is shared in the ratio of their investments. So,

Naren's share / Total profit = Naren's investment / Total investment
=> 8000 / 12000 = 10000 / (10000 + x)

Solving the above equation for x, we get x = Rs.5000.

Therefore, the amount invested by Praba is Rs.5000.

Hence, option D is the correct answer.
