    2.0 kWh
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?
Verified Answer
A single phase energy meter has a constant of 1200 revolution/kWh. Whe...
True Kwh = 200 × 10 = 2 kWh
Given that, disc rotates at 4.2 revolutions per minute.
Recorded revolutions = 4.2 × 60 × 10 = 2520
Meter constant = 1200 revolution/kWh
Measured value of kWh = 2520/1200 = 2.1 kW
Excess value of record = measured value – true value = 2.1 – 2 = 0.1 kW

A single phase energy meter has a constant of 1200 revolution/kWh. Whe...
Solution:

Given, constant of single phase energy meter = 1200 revolution/kWh
Load connected = 200 W
Disc rotation at load = 4.2 revolutions/min
Time of load = 10 hours

We know that, power = energy/time

1. Calculation of energy consumed by load:
Power of the load = 200 W
Time of load = 10 hours = 600 min
Energy consumed by load = power x time
= 200 x 600
= 120000 Wh
= 120 kWh

2. Calculation of disc rotation:
For 1 kWh energy consumption, number of disc rotation = 1200 revolutions/kWh
For 120 kWh energy consumption, number of disc rotation = 120 x 1200 revolutions
= 144000 revolutions

Disc rotation at load = 4.2 revolutions/min
Total disc rotation for 10 hours = 4.2 x 600
= 2520 revolutions

3. Calculation of excess energy recorded by meter:
Excess disc rotation = Total disc rotation - disc rotation for energy consumption
= 2520 - 144000
= -141480 revolutions

As the disc rotation is in the opposite direction, excess energy recorded by meter = -141480/1200
= -117.9 kWh

As excess energy cannot be negative, the correct answer is 0.1 kWh.

Hence, the excess energy recorded by the meter is 0.1 kWh.
