C) Rs 3,125 Explanation: Beyond 7 years is after 7 years for remaining (13-7) = 6 years P = 2500*100/[r1t1+r2t2+r3t3] P = 2500*100/[4*3 + 5*4 + 8*6]

A sum of money invested for 13 years yields Rs 2500 as simple interest...
Given:

Time (t) = 13 years

Simple Interest (SI) = Rs 2500

Rate of Interest (R1) = 4% for first 3 years

Rate of Interest (R2) = 5% for next 4 years

Rate of Interest (R3) = 8% beyond 7 years

To find: Principal (P)

Formula used:

SI = (P * R * T)/100

where

P = Principal

R = Rate of Interest

T = Time

Calculation:

Let the principal be P.

As per the given information,

For the first 3 years,

SI1 = (P * R1 * 3)/100

For the next 4 years,

SI2 = (P * R2 * 4)/100

For the remaining 6 years,

SI3 = (P * R3 * 6)/100

Total Simple Interest,

SI = SI1 + SI2 + SI3

SI = (P * R1 * 3)/100 + (P * R2 * 4)/100 + (P * R3 * 6)/100

SI = (3P * R1 + 4P * R2 + 6P * R3)/100

SI = (3PR1 + 4PR2 + 6PR3)/100

SI = (3P * 4 + 4P * 5 + 6P * 8)/100

SI = (12P + 20P + 48P)/100

SI = 80P/100

SI = 4P/5

Given that,

SI = Rs 2500

4P/5 = 2500

P = (2500 * 5)/4

P = Rs 3125

Therefore, the principal invested is Rs 3125.

Hence, option (c) is the correct answer.
