Speed of person P = 20km/hr
Speed of person Q = 10km/hr
Let's assume that the meeting point Y is at a distance of x km from city A.
Time taken by person P to reach city B and come back to Y =
(distance from A to B + distance from B to Y) / speed =
(120 + x*2) / 20 = (120 + 2x) / 20
Time taken by person Q to reach Y =
distance from A to Y / speed =
x / 10
Since both persons meet at Y, they must have taken the same amount of time to reach there.
Therefore, (120 + 2x) / 20 = x / 10
Simplifying the above equation, we get:
6x = 120
x = 20
Hence, the distance between A and Y is 20km.
