Quantity of wheat bought = 1260 kg
Gain on 1/4th of the wheat sold = 5%
Gain on 1/3rd of the wheat sold = 8%
Gain on remaining wheat sold = 12%
Difference in gain if sold at 10% = Rs 40.95

To find: Cost price per kg

Let the cost price per kg be x.

1. Calculation of total selling price of all wheat sold at different gains

Selling price of 1/4th of the wheat sold = (1260/4) * (100 + 5)/100 = 157.5x
Selling price of 1/3rd of the wheat sold = (1260/3) * (100 + 8)/100 = 336x
Selling price of remaining wheat sold = (1260/4) * (100 + 12)/100 = 189x

Total selling price = 157.5x + 336x + 189x = 682.5x

2. Calculation of selling price if sold at 10% gain

Let the selling price if sold at 10% gain be y.

y = 1260 * (100 + 10)/100 = 1386

3. Calculation of difference in gain

Difference in gain = y - 682.5x = 40.95

4. Calculation of cost price per kg

On solving the above equations, we get x = 3.

Therefore, the cost price per kg of wheat is Rs 3. Answer: Option C.
