Verified Answer
The full-load copper-loss and iron loss of a transformer are 6400W and...
Copper loss = (1/2)2 × 6400 = 1600W Iron loss does not depend upon the load but upon the applied voltage.

The full-load copper-loss and iron loss of a transformer are 6400W and...
Given:
Full-load copper-loss = 6400 W
Full-load iron loss = 5000 W

To find:
Copper-loss and iron-loss at half-load

Solution:
At full-load, total losses = Copper-loss + Iron-loss
Total losses = 6400 + 5000 = 11400 W

At half-load, the copper-loss will reduce to half but the iron-loss will remain the same.

Copper-loss at half-load = 6400/2 = 3200 W

Total losses at half-load = Copper-loss at half-load + Iron-loss at half-load
Total losses at half-load = 3200 + Iron-loss at half-load

Total losses at half-load = Total losses at full-load/2 = 11400/2 = 5700 W

Iron-loss at half-load = Total losses at half-load - Copper-loss at half-load
Iron-loss at half-load = 5700 - 3200 = 2500 W

Therefore, the copper-loss and iron-loss at half-load are 3200 W and 2500 W respectively.

Hence, option D is the correct answer.
