Shore committee was set up to fight for the rights of the passengers in Komaghata maru ship in Vancouver.
The Komagata Maru incident involved a Japanese steamship, Komagata Maru, that sailed from Hong Kong, then a holding of the British Empire, through Shanghai, China, then on to Yokohama, Japan, and then finally to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in 1914, carrying 376 passengers from Punjab, British India. Of them 24 were admitted to Canada, but the other 352 passengers were not allowed to land in Canada, and the ship was forced to return to India
"shore committee" was formed with Hassan Rahim and Sohan Lal Pathak. Protest meetings were held in Canada and the United States. At one, held in Dominion Hall, Vancouver, it was resolved that if the passengers were not allowed off, Indo-Canadians should follow them back to India to start a rebellion (or Ghadar). A British government agent who infiltrated the meeting wired London and Ottawa to tell them those supporters of the Ghadar Party were on the ship.
The shore committee raised $22,000 as an instalment on chartering the ship. They also launched a test case legal battle under J. Edward Bird's legal counsel in the name of Munshi Singh, one of the passengers. On July 6, the full bench of the B.C. Court of Appeal gave a unanimous judgement that under new orders-in-council, it had no authority to interfere with the decisions of the Department of Immigration and Colonization

1. The Ghadar Party was a revolutionary group stationed in North America.
This statement is correct. The Ghadar Party was formed by Indian immigrants in the United States and Canada in 1913. Its members included students, intellectuals, and laborers who were living in North America at that time.

2. Their programme was to organize assassination of officials, publish anti-imperialist literature, procure arms and bring about a simultaneous revolt in all British colonies.
This statement is correct. The Ghadar Party aimed to bring about a revolution against British colonial rule in India. They planned to assassinate British officials, publish anti-imperialist literature to spread their ideas, and procure arms to support their cause. They also aimed to coordinate a simultaneous revolt in all British colonies.

3. Their plans were encouraged by two events - Komagata Maru incident and outbreak of First World War.
This statement is correct. The Ghadar Party's plans were indeed encouraged by two significant events. The first event was the Komagata Maru incident in 1914, where a ship carrying Indian passengers who were seeking to immigrate to Canada was denied entry and forced to return to India. This incident sparked outrage among the Indian community in North America and further fueled their anti-colonial sentiments. The outbreak of the First World War in 1914 also played a role in encouraging the Ghadar Party's plans as they saw it as an opportune moment to exploit the weakening position of the British Empire and launch a rebellion.

4. Defense of India Act was passed primarily to smash the movement.
This statement is incorrect. The Defense of India Act was not primarily passed to smash the Ghadar Party movement. The act was passed in 1915 by the British government in response to the outbreak of the First World War. It aimed to give the colonial government sweeping powers to suppress any form of dissent or rebellion that could threaten British rule in India. While the act did target revolutionary groups like the Ghadar Party, it was not passed solely for the purpose of smashing their movement. Its main objective was to maintain control and stability during wartime.

In conclusion, statement d) None of the above is the correct answer as all the statements provided are correct except for statement 4.
