Calculation of Profit Percentage for a Milkman

Given Information:

  • Cost price of milk per litre = Rs. x

  • Selling price of milk per litre = Rs. 2x

  • Milkman mixes 2 litres of water with every 6 litres of pure milk.

Calculation of Selling Price:

  • For every 6 litres of pure milk, 2 litres of water are added.

  • Therefore, the milkman sells 8 litres of milk at Rs. 2x per litre.

  • Hence, the selling price of 8 litres of milk = 8 x 2x = 16x

Calculation of Cost Price:

  • For every 6 litres of pure milk, 2 litres of water are added.

  • Therefore, the milkman purchases 6 litres of pure milk and 2 litres of water at a cost of 6x.

  • Thus, the cost price of 8 litres of milk (6 litres of pure milk and 2 litres of water) = 6x.

Calculation of Profit:

  • Profit = Selling Price - Cost Price

  • Profit = 16x - 6x = 10x

Calculation of Profit Percentage:

  • Profit Percentage = (Profit/Cost Price) x 100

  • Profit Percentage = (10x/6x) x 100

  • Profit Percentage = 166.67%

Conclusion:

  • The profit percentage for the milkman is 166.67%.

  • This means that the milkman earns a profit of Rs. 10 for every Rs. 6 he spends on purchasing the milk.
