Not a Mahajanapadas: Inamgaon

Mahajanapadas refer to the sixteen great kingdoms or republics that existed in ancient India during the 6th-4th century BCE. These kingdoms were spread across the northern and eastern regions of India. Inamgaon, on the other hand, was not one of the Mahajanapadas. Inamgaon:

Inamgaon is an archaeological site located in Pune district, Maharashtra. It is a prehistoric site belonging to the Chalcolithic period (c. 3000-1500 BCE). The site was excavated by H.D. Sankalia in the 1950s and 1960s. The excavations revealed several cultural and technological aspects of the prehistoric people who lived here.

Why Inamgaon is not a Mahajanapadas?

Inamgaon is not a Mahajanapadas because it does not fit the criteria for being a Mahajanapadas. Mahajanapadas were powerful kingdoms that had a well-organized political system, a strong army, and a developed economy. Inamgaon, on the other hand, was a small prehistoric settlement that existed much before the emergence of the Mahajanapadas. Therefore, it cannot be considered as one of the Mahajanapadas.
