Insulin gene is not inserted into bacterial host cell because-a)post t...
Explanation:

Insulin gene is not inserted into bacterial host cell because post translational modification is not possible.

Post translational modification refers to the changes that occur to a protein after translation. These changes include folding, cleavage, addition of functional groups, and other modifications. In the case of insulin, post translational modifications are critical for its function. Insulin is synthesized in the beta cells of the pancreas as a precursor protein called proinsulin. Proinsulin is then processed to form mature insulin, which involves the removal of a peptide segment called C-peptide and the formation of disulfide bonds between the A and B chains.

Bacteria lack the machinery to perform the post translational modifications required for insulin to be functional. Therefore, even if the insulin gene is inserted into a bacterial host cell, the resulting protein would not be functional. As a result, insulin is typically produced using recombinant DNA technology in eukaryotic cells such as yeast or mammalian cells, which have the necessary machinery for post translational modifications.

Conclusion:

Thus, the correct answer is option 'B' as post translational modifications are not possible in bacterial host cells, making it unsuitable for insulin gene insertion.

Human insulin is synthesized as a pro hormone which containing an extra structure called C peptide. C peptide is not present mature insulin .it is processed at the transcriptional level. and removed during maturation into insulin. this post transcriptional level modification is not present in bacterial cell.
