The predominant site for the control of gene expression in prokaryote...
Gene expression is regulated at various levels. Gene expression refers to the expression of a gene due to the formation of a polypeptide. Gene regulation is an essential part of the developmental procedure and is needed to maintain the cell's stable condition. It is a metabolic, physiological, or environmental condition that regulates the expression of genes.
The rate of transcriptional initiation is the predominant site for control of expression of genes in the prokaryotes. In a transcription unit, the activity of DNA-dependent RNA polymerase at a given promoter is regulated by association and interaction with specific regulator proteins, which affects its ability to recognize start sites. These regulatory proteins can act as both activators (positively) and repressors (negatively). The functioning of the operator depends upon the protein products.
