New species may be formed if DNA undergoes significant change in germ cells. Changes in DNA will be inherited by the germ cells. Germ cells which when passes to the next generation will be inherited in the subsequent generations.

New species formation can not result if the genetic material is unchanged. The same genetic material gives rise to similar species and if there is no mating then there is no progeny. If genetic material undergoes significant changes in the germ cells which gives rise to gametes of an individual then mating will give rise to different species than original. If there is the major deletion, duplication or missing chromosomes takes place in germ, the genetic material is changed and so its expression. Thus, it may give rise to new species than original. Hence, answer A is correct
