All protein and protein derivative hormones excpet thyroxin hormones binds to cell membrane so work from outside the cell .as they are hydropillic so cant cross cell membrane so they bind to their receptores present on the cell membrane and generate secondry messengers like cyAMP , Ca++ etc.
