According to me the question has some confusion:
the line that "8 are spotted and 7 are striped" has two meanings thus two cases arise, i will solve in both ways:
1. this means that the 8 fishes those were seen and seven out of them were removed.
thus left is 1.
1+ 5 golden+ 7 pink= 13 MINIMUM POSSIBLE fishes.

2. it means 8 are spotted means 8 fishes have spots on their body and 7 has strips on their body.
thus spotted: 8,
stripped: 7,
golden(all are spotted)=5,
so the left spotted are 8-5=3.
pink fishes (either only stripped/spotted)=7.
now possibilities for pink fish are:
a) 7 stripped, 0 spotted ( so left are 3 spotted, total fish= 5+7+3=15)
b) 6 stripped,1 spotted( so left are 1 stripped and 2 spotted so may be contain both strips and spotted, then total fish = 5+7+2=14)
c) 5 stripped,2spotted( left are 2 strip and 1 spot may contain both ,so 5+7+2=14)
d) 4 stripped,3 spotted ( 3 stripped, 5+7+3= 15 total)
so MINIMUM POSSIBLE fishes are 14 in this case.
