Increasing Order of Work Done

Introduction:
Work done is the product of force and displacement of an object in the direction of the force. It is a scalar quantity measured in joules. Understanding the concept of work done is important in physics as it helps to determine the energy transferred to or from an object.

Increasing order of work done:
The amount of work done depends on the force applied and the distance covered. Therefore, the order of work done varies for different situations. However, the following is the increasing order of work done in some common situations:

1. No work done: When a force is applied perpendicular to the direction of motion, no work is done. For example, when lifting a weight vertically upwards, the force applied is perpendicular to the displacement and hence no work is done.

2. Negative work done: When the force is applied opposite to the direction of motion, negative work is done. For instance, when a block is sliding down an inclined plane, the force of friction acts in the opposite direction to the motion of the block, and hence negative work is done.

3. Static friction: When an object is at rest, the force required to move it is greater than the force of static friction. Hence, the work done is zero.

4. Kinetic friction: When an object is in motion, the force required to keep it moving is less than the force of kinetic friction. Therefore, the work done is negative, as the force of kinetic friction is opposite to the direction of motion.

5. Constant force: When the force applied is constant and in the same direction as the displacement, the work done is given by the product of force and displacement. Hence, as the force and displacement increase, the work done also increases.

6. Variable force: When the force applied is not constant, the work done is given by the area under the force-displacement curve. Thus, the work done depends on the shape of the curve.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, the amount of work done varies for different situations, and it is essential to understand the concept of work done to determine the energy transferred to or from an object. The increasing order of work done is affected by various factors such as force, displacement, and the direction of motion.
