And stapes lies the smallest bone in the human body, the stapedius bone. It is located in the middle ear and is responsible for transmitting sound vibrations from the eardrum to the inner ear. The stapedius bone is important for hearing and is connected to the stapedius muscle, which helps to dampen loud noises to protect the delicate structures of the ear.
