The average of 5 observations is 15. If three new observations 16.5, 1...
Solution:

Given, the average of 5 observations is 15.

Sum of 5 observations = 5 x 15 = 75

Now, three new observations 16.5, 18 and 14.5 are added.

New sum of observations = 75 + 16.5 + 18 + 14.5 = 124

Total number of observations = 5 + 3 = 8

New average = New sum of observations / Total number of observations

= 124 / 8

= 15.5

Therefore, the new average is 15.5.

A/q,
x+y+z+t+u/3=15.
so,
x+y+z+t+u=75. (1)
add given three observations in (1),we get,
total of 8 observations that is
75+16.5+18+14.5=124
average of total observations will be
