A carbohydrate that is the chief form of stored energy in plants, especially wheat, corn, rice, and potatoes. Starch is a mixture of two different polysaccharides built out of glucose units, and forms a white, tasteless powder when purified.

As you know friends there are 2 forms of Carbohydrate :--
(1). Simple carbohydrate (Simple sugar)
* It includes Fructose,glucose and lactose which are found in most of the fruits.
(2). Complex Carbohydrate (Starches)
* It is found in starchy vegetables, whole grains, rice, breads and cereals.
So starch is a Complex Carbohydrate which is made of long chain of sugar molecules.
Friends if you know what is carbohydrate, then it is very simple to know about starch because Complex carbohydrates is known as starch which is found in vegetables, grains etc.
