Consider the following statements related to the forms of plate tecton...

Explanation:

Divergent boundaries:

At divergent plate boundaries, two plates move away from each other. This movement creates a gap between the plates, which is filled with magma from the mantle. The magma cools and solidifies, forming new crust. This process is known as seafloor spreading. As a result, new crust is generated at divergent boundaries. Therefore, statement 1 is correct.

Convergent boundaries:

At convergent plate boundaries, two plates move towards each other. When a denser oceanic plate collides with a less dense continental plate, the oceanic plate is forced to subduct or dive beneath the continental plate. The subducted plate descends into the mantle, where it is eventually melted. This process is known as subduction. The destruction of crust occurs during subduction, as the subducted plate is consumed by the mantle. Therefore, statement 2 is correct.

Transform boundaries:

At transform plate boundaries, two plates slide horizontally past each other. This movement is characterized by intense friction and shear stress. The plates do not create or destroy crust at transform boundaries. Instead, they grind against each other, causing earthquakes. Therefore, statement 3 is correct.

Conclusion:

In summary, all three statements are correct. At divergent boundaries, new crust is generated. At convergent boundaries, crust is destroyed through subduction. At transform boundaries, crust is neither produced nor destroyed.
