Given Data:
- Centre of the circle, O(12,4)
- Coordinates of Point A, (18,6) which lies on the diameter AB
Finding the Coordinates of Point B:
1. Finding the Midpoint of AB:
- The midpoint of a diameter of a circle is the center of the circle
- Midpoint of AB = ((x1 + x2)/2, (y1 + y2)/2)
- Substituting the given coordinates, midpoint = ((18 + x)/2, (6 + y)/2)
- Since O is the midpoint of AB, O(12,4) = ((18 + x)/2, (6 + y)/2)
2. Solving for Point B:
- From the above equation, we can find the coordinates of point B
- 12 = (18 + x)/2 and 4 = (6 + y)/2
- Solving these equations, we get x = 6 and y = 2
- Therefore, the coordinates of point B are (6,2)
