 with its tall parent.
Solution:
When a plant homozygous for tall (TD is crossed with a plant homozygous for dwarf (tt) the off-springs in the F
1

will be the production of heterozygous tall (Tt).
Now such a heterozygous tall (Tt), when back-crossed with its tall parent (TT), will show the following results:
Result:
In such a case all the parents will be tall.
Q.3. When a plant homozygous for tall is crossed with a plant homozygous for dwarf, what will be the appearance of the off-springs of a cross of F

Solution:
When a plant homozygous for tall (TT) is crossed with a plant homozygous for dwarf (tt), the off-springs in the F
1
 will be heterozygous tall (Tt).
When such heterozygous tall (Tt) is back crossed with dwarf parent (tt) the following will be the result:
Result:
In such cases the result would be the production of tall and dwarf in a ratio of 1: 1.

Crossing Homozygous Tall Plant with Homozygous Dwarf Plant

When a plant that is homozygous for tall (TT) is crossed with a plant that is homozygous for dwarf (tt), the resulting F1 generation will be heterozygous for tall (Tt) because the dominant allele for tallness (T) is expressed over the recessive allele for dwarfness (t).

Appearance of Offsprings of F1 with Tall Parent

When the F1 generation is crossed with its tall parent, the resulting offspring will have a 50% chance of being tall (TT or Tt) and a 50% chance of being heterozygous tall (Tt). Therefore, all of the offspring will be tall because the dominant allele for tallness (T) will be expressed in all of them.

Appearance of Offsprings of F1 with Dwarf Parent

When the F1 generation is crossed with its dwarf parent, the resulting offspring will have a 50% chance of being heterozygous tall (Tt) and a 50% chance of being homozygous dwarf (tt). Therefore, half of the offspring will be tall and the other half will be dwarf.

Key Points:

- Crossing a homozygous tall plant with a homozygous dwarf plant results in a heterozygous tall F1 generation.
- Crossing the F1 generation with its tall parent results in all tall offspring.
- Crossing the F1 generation with its dwarf parent results in half tall and half dwarf offspring.
