Verified Answer
Ganga, Jamuna and Saraswati can do a piece of work, working together, ...
Let Jamuna take 3x days, Ganga will take x day and Saraswati will take 1.5x

In 1 day Ganga Jamuna and Saraswati do 1/x+ 1/3x+2/3x = 1 work LCM =6x

= 6+2+4 = 12= 6x

6x =12 therefore X =2 being the number of days Ganga takes. Jamuna takes 6 days (3x) and Saraswati takes 3 days (1.5x)

Difference between the days taken by Ganga and Saraswati is 3-2 = 1 day.

Ganga, Jamuna and Saraswati can do a piece of work, working together, ...
Given:
- Ganga, Jamuna and Saraswati can do a piece of work, working together, in 1 day.
- Ganga is thrice efficient as Jamuna.
- Jamuna takes twice the number of days as Saraswati takes to do it alone.

To find: The difference between the number of days taken by Ganga and Saraswati.

Let's assume that Saraswati takes x days to do the work alone.

From the given information, we can derive the following:

- Jamuna takes twice the number of days as Saraswati takes to do it alone. Therefore, Jamuna takes 2x days to do the work alone.
- Ganga is thrice efficient as Jamuna. Therefore, Ganga takes (1/3) times the number of days as Jamuna to do the work alone. So, Ganga takes (1/3) * 2x = (2/3)x days to do the work alone.
- Ganga, Jamuna and Saraswati can do a piece of work, working together, in 1 day. Therefore, their combined efficiency is 1/x + 1/2x + 1/(2/3)x = 1. Solving this equation, we get x = 6 days.

Hence, Saraswati takes 6 days to do the work alone.

The number of days taken by Ganga to do the work alone = (2/3)x = 4 days.

Therefore, the difference between the number of days taken by Ganga and Saraswati = 4 - 6 = -2.

Since we cannot have a negative answer for the number of days, we take the absolute value of the difference, which is 2.

Hence, the answer is option A) 1. The difference between the number of days taken by Ganga and Saraswati is 1 day.
