However, as the rebellion began to falter, Kunwar Singh found himself increasingly isolated. Most of the other leaders had either been defeated or had surrendered to the British. Kunwar Singh's age and declining health also made it difficult for him to continue the fight. In the end, he was forced to flee to the jungles of Bihar, where he continued to launch guerilla attacks on the British.
Legacy
Kunwar Singh was one of the last leaders to surrender to the British. He finally gave up the fight in 1859, after suffering a severe injury in battle. He was allowed to return to his estate in Jagdishpur, where he died a few months later.
