The secoundary line to line voltage of a star-delta connected transfor...
Given Information

  • Secondary line to line voltage = 400V

  • Turn ratio (primary to secondary) = 2:1

Calculation

Since the transformer is a step-down transformer (turn ratio 2:1), the primary voltage will be higher than the secondary voltage.

Let's assume the secondary line voltage as Vs and primary line voltage as Vp.

Based on the turn ratio,

Vs/Vp = 1/2 (since it is a step-down transformer)

Given Vs = 400V

Substituting the values in the above equation we get,

400/Vp = 1/2

Vp = 400*2 = 800V

Answer

The applied line to line voltage in the primary is 800V.
