Consider the following statements with respect to Swami Dayanand Sara...
    • The Arya Samaj Movement, revivalist in form though not in content, was the result of a reaction to Western influences. It was founded by Dayananda Saraswati (1824-1883). Dayananda’s views were published in his famous work, Satyarth Prakash (The True Exposition).
    • His vision of India included a classless and casteless society, a united India (religiously, socially and nationally), and an India free from foreign rule, with Aryan religion being the common religion of all. Dayananda subscribed to the Vedic notion of chaturvarna system in which a person was not born in any caste but was identified as a brahmin, kshatriya, vaishya or shudra according to the occupation the person followed.
    • For his own inspiration, Swami Dayanand went to the Vedas which he regarded as infallible. He rejected all later religious thought if it conflicted with the Vedas. This total dependence on Vedas and their infallibility gave his teachings an orthodox colouring. Hence statement 1 is correct.
    • He was opposed to idolatry, ritual, and priesthood and particularly to the prevalent caste practices and popular Hinduism as preached by brahmins. Hence statement 2 is correct.
    • Swami Dayanand met Keshub Chandra Sen, Vidyasagar, Justice Ranade, Gopal Hari Deshmukh and other modern religious and social reformers. Hence statement 3 is correct.

Consider the following statements with respect to Swami Dayanand Sara...
To answer this question, we will analyze each statement given with respect to Swami Dayanand Saraswati and determine their correctness:

    1. He rejected all religious thoughts if they conflicted with the Vedas.
    2. He was opposed to priesthood and idolatry.
    3. He was a contemporary of Mahadev Govind Ranade.

Let's evaluate each statement in detail:

    1. He rejected all religious thoughts if they conflicted with the Vedas:
This statement is correct. Swami Dayanand Saraswati was a staunch advocate of the Vedas and considered them as the ultimate authority for religious knowledge. He rejected any religious beliefs or practices that contradicted the teachings of the Vedas. He emphasized the need to go back to the original teachings of the Vedas and criticized the social and religious practices that had deviated from them.

    2. He was opposed to priesthood and idolatry:
This statement is also correct. Swami Dayanand Saraswati strongly opposed the concept of priesthood and idol worship. He believed that the priestly class had corrupted the true teachings of the Vedas and had introduced various superstitious practices. He advocated for a direct connection between individuals and God, without the need for intermediaries. Swami Dayanand Saraswati promoted the idea of monotheism and emphasized the worship of the formless, omnipotent God as described in the Vedas.

    3. He was a contemporary of Mahadev Govind Ranade:
This statement is correct. Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Mahadev Govind Ranade were both prominent figures during the late 19th century in India. Mahadev Govind Ranade was a social reformer, scholar, and judge who played a significant role in the Indian nationalist movement. Although they had different perspectives and approaches, both Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Mahadev Govind Ranade were influential in their respective fields and contributed to the intellectual and social discourse of their time.

Based on the above analysis, we can conclude that all three statements given are correct. Hence, the correct answer is option 'D' - 1, 2 and 3.
