Explanation:
When a ray of light enters a prism, it refracts towards the base. The angle of incidence, angle of emergence and angle of deviation are measured with respect to the base and the incident ray must be perpendicular to the base. The angle of deviation is the difference between the angle of incidence and angle of emergence.

When a ray of light enters a prism, it undergoes refraction twice, first when it enters the prism and second, when it leaves the prism. The angle of deviation depends on the angle of incidence and angle of emergence. But it has been observed that for a particular angle of deviation, there can be two angles of incidence. This phenomenon is known as the angle of minimum deviation. It is the angle of deviation for which the deviation is minimum.

The principle of reversibility of light states that when a ray of light traverses a path in one direction, it can also traverse the same path in the opposite direction. This means that if a ray of light enters a prism and emerges out of the other side, then a ray entering the prism from the opposite side along the same path will emerge from the first surface along the same path.

Hence, we can conclude that the assertion and reason both are true and the reason correctly explains the assertion.
