Rajan Started a business with an investment of Rs.80, 000 and after f...
Given:
Investment of Rajan = Rs. 80,000
Profit ratio of Rajan, Naman and Bittu = 5 : 4 : 4

Let the investments of Naman and Bittu be x and y respectively.

Calculation:
Let us assume that the business made a profit of Rs. P in the year.

Total investment = Investment of Rajan + Investment of Naman + Investment of Bittu
Total investment = Rs. 80,000 + x + y

We know that Rajan has been in the business for the entire year and the profit ratio of Rajan, Naman and Bittu is 5 : 4 : 4. Therefore, the profit made by Rajan in the year is 5/13 of the total profit.

Profit of Rajan = (5/13)P

Naman joined after 4 months, i.e. he was in the business for 8 months. Therefore, the profit made by Naman in the year is (4/12) of the total profit.

Profit of Naman = (4/12) * (4/13)P = (1/13)P

Bittu joined after 6 months, i.e. he was in the business for 6 months. Therefore, the profit made by Bittu in the year is (6/12) of the total profit.

Profit of Bittu = (6/12) * (4/13)P = (2/13)P

Given, Profit ratio of Rajan, Naman and Bittu = 5 : 4 : 4
Therefore, (5/13)P : (1/13)P : (2/13)P = 5 : 4 : 4

Solving the above equation, we get P = Rs. 390,000

Now, we can find the investments of Naman and Bittu.

Investment of Naman + Investment of Bittu = Total investment - Investment of Rajan
x + y = Rs. (80,000 + x + y) - Rs. 80,000
x + y = Rs. 80,000

Profit of Naman = (1/13)P = Rs. 30,000
Profit of Bittu = (2/13)P = Rs. 60,000

Now, we can use the profit sharing ratio to find the actual profit received by Naman and Bittu.

Actual profit received by Naman = (4/12) * Rs. 30,000 = Rs. 10,000
Actual profit received by Bittu = (6/12) * Rs. 60,000 = Rs. 30,000

Sum of the investments of Naman and Bittu = Investment of Naman + Investment of Bittu
Sum of the investments of Naman and Bittu = Rs. 80,000

Therefore, the sum of the amounts invested by Naman and Bittu is Rs. 2,24,000 (Option C).
