Total distance covered by Manish = 220 kms
Total time taken by Manish = 11 hours
⇒ Average speed of Manish for the whole journey = 220/11 = 20 kmph
20 = Total distance/total time
Total distance = D1 + D2 + D3 = 220
Total time = t1 + t2 + t3= 11
where,
D1 = t1×v1
Similarly,
D2 = t2×v2
D3 = t3×v3
⇒ 20 = (D1 + D2 + D3)/(t1 + t2 + t3)
⇒ 20 = (30t1 + 8t2 + 4t3)/(t1 + t2 + t3)
⇒ 20t1 + 20t2 + 20t3 = 30t1 + 8t2 + 4t3
⇒ -10t1 + 12t2 + 16t3 = 0 and t1 + t2 + t3 = 11
As, there are 2 equations and 3 variables.
So, the ratio of t1, t2 and t3 cannot be determined.

Understanding the Journey
Manish traveled a total distance of 220 km in 11 hours, using three modes of transport: car, rickshaw, and walking.
Speeds of Each Mode
- Car Speed: 30 kmph
- Rickshaw Speed: 8 kmph
- Walking Speed: Half of Rickshaw Speed = 4 kmph
Time Calculation for Each Mode
To find the ratio of time taken in each mode, we need to express the distances covered by each.
Distance and Time Relations
1. Let the distance traveled by Car = x km
- Time taken by Car = x / 30 hours
2. Let the distance traveled by Rickshaw = y km
- Time taken by Rickshaw = y / 8 hours
3. Let the distance traveled by Foot = z km
- Time taken by Foot = z / 4 hours
The total distance equation is:
x + y + z = 220
The total time equation is:
(x / 30) + (y / 8) + (z / 4) = 11
Challenges in Determining the Ratio
We have two equations with three unknowns (x, y, z). This creates a situation where multiple combinations of distances can satisfy both equations.
Therefore, without knowing specific distances covered in each mode, we cannot determine a unique ratio of time taken.
Conclusion
Since we have insufficient information to fix the values of x, y, and z distinctly, the correct answer to the question is:
Cannot be determined (Option D)
