Given information:
Kunal walks 10 km towards North.
From there, he walks 6 km towards South.
Then, he walks 3 km towards East.

To find:
The distance and direction of Kunal from his starting point.

Solution:
Let us assume that the starting point of Kunal is O.

First, Kunal walks 10 km towards North. So, he reaches the point A which is 10 km away from O towards North.

Next, he walks 6 km towards South from point A. This means he moves 6 km in the opposite direction of North. So, Kunal is now at the point B which is 4 km away from O towards North (10 km - 6 km).

Finally, he walks 3 km towards East from point B. This means he moves 3 km to the right of the North direction. So, Kunal is now at the point C which is 3 km to the right of point B.

We can now use Pythagoras theorem to find the distance of Kunal from his starting point O.

In right-angled triangle OBC,
OC² = OB² + BC²

OC² = (4 km)² + (3 km)²

OC² = 16 km² + 9 km²

OC² = 25 km²

OC = 5 km

So, the distance of Kunal from his starting point O is 5 km.

To find the direction, we can use trigonometry.

tan θ = BC / OB

tan θ = 3 km / 4 km

θ = tan⁻¹ (3/4)

θ = 36.87°

So, Kunal is 5 km away from his starting point O towards the North-East direction.

Therefore, the correct option is (d) 5 km North-East.
