Study the following information carefully and answer the given questions. The question consists of two statements numbered “I and II” given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question.
If ratio of length and breadth of a rectangle is 3:2, respectively, then find the area of the rectangle.
Statement I: The perimeter of the rectangle is equal to the perimeter of a semi-circle of radius 35m.
Statement II: Breadth of the rectangle is 33.33% more than the radius of the cone, whose curved surface area is 594 cm².
  • a)
    The data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
  • b)
    The data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
  • c)
    The data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
  • d)
    The data given in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
  • e)
    The data in both statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?

Study the following information carefully and answer the given questi...
Let length and breadth of the rectangle be 3x m and 2x m, respectively.
Statement I:
Perimeter of the semi-circle = πr + 2r = {(22/7) × 35 + 2 × 35} = 110 + 70 = 180 m
ATQ;
2(3x + 2x) = 180
10x = 180
x = 18
Area of the rectangle = 6 × 182 = 1944 m2
So, data in statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question.
Statement II:
Ratio of length to breadth of the rectangle = 3x : 2x = 3 : 2
Radius of the cone = 2x * (100/133.33) = 3x/2
Since, we don’t know the value of the slant height of the cone, we can’t find the required value
So, data in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
Therefore, the data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
