Directions: Study the following information carefully and answer the ...
Understanding the Student Population
- Total students: 1800
- Ratio of boys to girls: 5:4
- Total boys: (5/9) * 1800 = 1000
- Total girls: (4/9) * 1800 = 800
Distribution in Zoology and Anatomy
- Total students in Zoology: 360
- Girls in Zoology and Anatomy: 45% of 800 = 360
- Ratio of girls in Zoology to girls in Anatomy: 4:5
Let:
- Girls in Zoology = 4x
- Girls in Anatomy = 5x
From the total girls in Zoology and Anatomy:
- 4x + 5x = 360
- 9x = 360
- x = 40
Thus:
- Girls in Zoology = 4 * 40 = 160
- Girls in Anatomy = 5 * 40 = 200
Calculating Boys in Zoology
- Total boys in Zoology = Total in Zoology - Girls in Zoology
- Boys in Zoology = 360 - 160 = 200
Calculating Microbiology Stats
- Total students in Microbiology: 300
- Ratio of girls to boys in Microbiology: 1:2
Let:
- Girls in Microbiology = y
- Boys in Microbiology = 2y
From the total in Microbiology:
- y + 2y = 300
- 3y = 300
- y = 100
Thus:
- Girls in Microbiology = 100
- Boys in Microbiology = 200
Difference Calculation
- Boys in Zoology = 200
- Girls in Microbiology = 100
Final Difference
- Difference between boys in Zoology and girls in Microbiology = 200 - 100 = 100
Thus, the answer is option 'C': 100.

Directions: Study the following information carefully and answer the ...
Total students = 1800
Number of girls in Zoology and Anatomy
Therefore, number of girls in Anatomy
And number of boys in Anatomy
Thus, number of girls in Zoology = 360 - 200 = 160
Therefore, number of boys in Zoology = 360 - 160 = 200
Number of boys in Botany
Therefore, number of girls in Botany = 440 - 200 = 240
Number of girls in Microbiology
Therefore, number of boys in Microbiology = 300 - 100 = 200
Remaining number of students
= 1800 - (160 + 200 + 200 + 300 + 200 + 240 + 100 + 200)
= 1800 - 1600
= 200
Therefore, number of boys in Pathology = 100
And number of girls in Pathology = 100
Required Difference = boys in Zoology - girls in Microbiology = 200 - 100 = 100
Hence, this is the correct answer.
