Hydrogen is a non-metal. bt sometime it is also called as a metal.solid and liquid hydrogen (at either very low temperature or very high pressure) will behave like a metal.the single electron is easily shared and exchanged with adjacent hydrogen atom,just as the electrons in metals behave..in that sense it can be called as metal.but in all other respects,it behaves mostly as an alkali metal. The only real reason that it's not regarded as metals that in it's everyday state in which we encounter it, it's a gas or a plasma.and metals are usually considered only to be metals in their solid or liquid forms.
