Many students face confusion regarding basic mathematics and standard mathematics. Let’s clear the confusion once and for all. Read the points given below to completely understand the differences between both
1. Both basic mathematics and standard mathematics have the same syllabus.
2. The level of the exam will be different in both exams. The basic mathematics exam will be on an easier level as compared to standard mathematics.
3. This concept was introduced to ease the pressure on students who do not want to take mathematics after class 10. Therefore, students who are not interested in studying mathematics after class 10 need not study a higher level of mathematics in class 10. So the concept of basic mathematics was introduced.
4. Students who study basic mathematics cannot study mathematics after class 10, so they cannot choose PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) after class 10. They can study PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), arts and commerce after class 10.
Important note - Due to covid, CBSE has made an exception in the year 2022, that students who have studied basic mathematics in class 10 can also take PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) in class 11.
