It is highly exothermic reaction in which the metal oxides are being treated with aluminium powder with the main aim of reduction of metal oxide to the metal.it is so much highly exothermic that the reduced metal comes in the molten form and it is also used in joining cracks of railways etc.

A reaction in which we reduce Iron(3) oxide with aluminium to get the impure ore of iron. For this we use burning magnesium to initiate the reaction. As this reaction is very exothermic , it is used in joining the railway tracks.
