While using mirror formula rememberi) Object distance(u) is always negative.ii) According to new sign cartesian all the distances are measured from pole.iii) The distance in oppsite to direction of propagation of light are always negative.iv) The distance in direction of propagation of light are positive.v) Distance measured in straight direction of above the principal axisis positive.vi) Direction measured in direction perpendicular to principal axis below the principal axis are negative.There is nothing to remember but memorise these points i) Object diatance is alwas negativeii) Image distance(v) is negative for concave mirror and positive for convex mirror.iii) Focal length (f) is negative dor concave mirror and positive for convex mirror.Follow mehope it helps
