Introduction:
It is a well-known fact that all living organisms require energy to carry out their life processes. But have you ever wondered where this energy comes from? The answer is the sun.
Photosynthesis:
The sun is the ultimate source of energy for all life on earth. This is because plants and other photosynthetic organisms convert the energy from the sun into a form that can be used by other organisms. This process is called photosynthesis. During photosynthesis, plants absorb light energy from the sun and use it to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. This glucose is then used as a source of energy by the plant itself and by other organisms that consume the plant.
Food chain:
Animals that eat plants are called herbivores and they derive their energy from the glucose produced by photosynthesis. Animals that eat other animals are called carnivores and they derive their energy from the herbivores they consume. This process of energy transfer from one organism to another is known as a food chain.
Energy pyramid:
An energy pyramid is a graphical representation of the amount of energy that is transferred from one trophic level to another in a food chain. At the base of the pyramid are the primary producers (plants) that convert the sun’s energy into glucose. As we move up the pyramid, the amount of available energy decreases because some of it is lost as heat and some of it is used up by the organisms for their life processes.
Conclusion:
In summary, animals ultimately derive their energy from the sun through the process of photosynthesis. This energy is then transferred from one organism to another through a food chain. The sun is therefore the ultimate source of energy for all life on earth.
Why is it said that animals derive energy ultimately from the sun? Ans...
Sun is the ultimate source of energy... bcz...At first form of energy... Sun is deprived among many circumstances... which gives us tendency to support life on our planet earth....Even...if we talked about...Sun's and it's form of energy... the. we can considered many such inhibitors which realise us about it's importance ...and how much...it's playing role as to provide proper source of energy
