Why was the result of clashes between gomathas and weavers ?
**Clashes between Gomathas and Weavers: An Explanation**

The clashes between Gomathas (cattle) and weavers have been a recurring issue in certain regions. These clashes arise due to several factors that contribute to the conflict between the two groups. Let us delve into the details and understand the underlying reasons:

**1. Resource Competition:**
One of the primary causes of clashes between Gomathas and weavers is resource competition. Weavers rely on natural resources like grass and water to sustain their cattle, while weavers require these resources for their livelihoods. As the demand for resources increases, it creates a scarcity, leading to conflicts between the two groups over access and control of these resources.

**2. Grazing Land Encroachment:**
With an expanding population and urbanization, the available grazing land for Gomathas is gradually diminishing. In some cases, weavers might encroach upon the grazing lands, restricting the access of cattle to these areas. This encroachment can lead to confrontations between Gomathas and weavers as the former tries to reclaim their traditional grazing grounds.

**3. Crop Damage:**
Another cause for the clashes is the damage caused to crops by Gomathas. Cattle, while grazing, might accidentally enter agricultural fields, trampling or consuming crops. This results in significant economic losses for the weavers, leading to resentment and conflicts between the two groups.

**4. Cultural and Religious Beliefs:**
In certain regions, Gomathas hold cultural and religious significance. They are considered sacred and worshipped by certain communities. Weavers, on the other hand, prioritize their economic interests over religious sentiments. This clash of beliefs and priorities can further escalate tensions between the two groups, resulting in clashes.

**5. Lack of Communication and Cooperation:**
Often, the clashes between Gomathas and weavers are aggravated by the lack of effective communication and cooperation between the two groups. Misunderstandings and misinterpretations of intentions and actions can fuel animosity. The absence of dialogue and coordination mechanisms further exacerbates the conflicts, making resolution challenging.

**Conclusion:**
The clashes between Gomathas and weavers are multifaceted, encompassing factors like resource competition, grazing land encroachment, crop damage, cultural and religious beliefs, and lack of communication. Addressing these issues requires a comprehensive approach that focuses on sustainable resource management, land rights, livelihood diversification, and fostering dialogue and cooperation between the conflicting parties. By promoting understanding, collaboration, and equitable solutions, it is possible to mitigate the clashes and establish harmony between Gomathas and weavers.

Why was the result of clashes between gomathas and weavers ?
When Britishers came to India they found that were not the only one here who wants to trade. So, when they gained monopoly rights, they started taking advantage of the situation and took different action to reduce the competition. They appointed paid servants called gomasthas. These gomasthas used to visit villages and give loans to weavers. By this way they were able to take control over weavers. Earlier supply merchants belonged to the same village and look after the needs of the weavers. But now gomasthas took the charge in their hands. The main job of gomasthas was to get cotton garments from the weavers. When these weavers were not in a position to give the garments on time then these gomasthas, who used to come with a sepoy, start beating and torturing weavers. The weavers were given very less time to complete their work and so the clashes held between Indian weavers and gomasthas. The gomasthas used to behave very arrogantly and punish the weavers for delay.
